Ronald Tom Diné Sterling Silver Seven-Stone Turquoise Cuff — 74.4 Grams
Nine turquoise stones sweep across the face of this substantial sterling silver cuff by Diné silversmith Ronald Tom.
Each individually shaped cabochon carries its own landscape of blue, aqua and vivid green, interrupted by islands of warm golden-brown matrix. Together, the stones create a remarkable progression of color across the wrist—no two alike, yet unmistakably belonging together.
Ronald Tom set the turquoise against a deeply oxidized ground, punctuating the composition with hand-formed silver blossoms and radiating appliqué work. The darkened recesses give the stones extraordinary depth, while the softly polished silver retains the warmth and character of the artist’s hand.
The interior is nearly as beautiful as the face. Hand-stamped feathers, sunbursts, fans and scrolling motifs extend around the cuff, framing the artist’s central “R. Tom Sterling” hallmark. Even the terminals are finished with sculptural silver flourishes, making this a complete work of art from every angle.
At 74.4 grams, Nine Springs is a serious collector’s cuff—substantial without becoming cumbersome, richly detailed and unmistakably one of a kind.
