Okay, Sheila absolutely understood the assignment with these.

Six individual pieces of Sage Kingman turquoise descend from each ear in this loose, articulated line—oval, triangle, oval, and then that wonderful little three-stone blossom at the bottom. They’re three inches long, but because Sheila built them as a series of moving sections, they don’t feel like a heavy slab of jewelry. They shimmer, swing, and basically rain turquoise.

Why This Piece Matters

Sheila Tso has a remarkable instinct for statement earrings: enough scale to transform an entire outfit, but with movement and balance engineered directly into the construction.

Here, twelve individually shaped Kingman turquoise cabochons create a design that feels organic rather than overly matched. The stones shift between saturated blue-green and softer sage passages, with subtle natural matrix appearing throughout. Each cabochon is individually bezel-set, allowing the irregularity of the turquoise to determine the rhythm of the pair.

These were commissioned directly from Sheila for Hespera, giving them artist-direct provenance from the moment they were made.

Curator’s Field Observation

The genius here is the weight-to-impact ratio. At only 15 grams for the pair, these deliver the visual drama of a substantial chandelier earring without asking your earlobes to file a formal complaint.

The articulation also matters: each stone is allowed to move independently, so the turquoise catches the light differently as the wearer moves. The small three-stone clusters provide just enough width at the bottom to finish the composition without overpowering the long, elegant line above them.

Eric’s Notes from the Field

This is what I want from a three-inch turquoise earring: drama without punishment 😂

The color is gorgeous—somewhere between clear Kingman blue-green and that softer sage tone—and I love that Sheila didn’t force the stones into perfect uniformity. Each one has its own shape and little personality, but together they read as this beautiful falling line of turquoise.

They’re long. They move. They show up from across the room. And somehow the entire pair weighs only 15 grams. Sheila knows earrings.
